Committed to Communities welcomed Atlanta police officers and neighbors for open house event
Wow – our Committed to Communities event this past Saturday turned into a regular neighborhood party! We had potential home buyers, future homeowners, and current neighbors all come out to walk our open homes in Adair Park and Westview – historic neighborhoods in southwest Atlanta. With our front porch view of the Atlanta BeltLine corridor from 1052 Allene Avenue, the stage was set for us to introduce new folks to the BeltLine project and to point out exactly where the corridor is for those who already know about it. You could even see the orange backside and big porch of 830 Brookline Street that overlooks the corridor.
Our goal with Committed to Communities is to showcase the neighborhoods along the Atlanta BeltLine in order to increase homeownership, decrease vacancies, and as a result, lessen crime.
Super support came from Stephanie with the Atlanta Police Foundation and the law enforcement officers that came by the event to check out the incentives offered by The BeltLine Team and EpiCity.
Another busy lady at the event was Nicole Zeliff of America Home Key. Nicole talked to several people about mortgage options for the Atlanta market and showed homes to Atlanta police officers. She also had information about Atlanta downpayment assistance programs.
In addition to Committed to Communities, Adair Park was also conducting a clean-up at the Brookline triangle almost across from the BeltLine Bike Shop. The BeltLine Bike Shop was open with a water station set up for the Atlanta BeltLine Bike Ride that flew by around noon. Stay tuned for more blogs to come on those events! With more gatherings and positive scenes like this in the neighborhood, I know we can keep our upward pace!! Thanks to everyone who came out and helped with the event!
BeltLine Best Buy: 415 Altoona Place one block from the Atlanta BeltLine and one block from Kipp Strive Academy
Situated on a corner lot with alley access, 415 Altoona Place is walking distance to the Atlanta BeltLine’s already-constructed west side trail. This 3 bed, 2 bath home will also be a block from Enota Park, one of the Atlanta BeltLine parks going in off of Langhorn Street. Offered for $94,900 (as of today), this is a beautifully restored and renovated classic craftsman bungalow with new electrical, plumbing, and HVAC – one of the reasons 415 Altoona Place is a BeltLine Best Buy!
This property is eligible for up to $41,900 in downpayment assistance since it is within both the Atlanta Development Authority’s 10% and $10,000 downpayment assistance program and the Atlanta Housing Authority’s $20,000 downpayment assistance area.
Light flows through this house with the big windows, adding life and charm to the home.
You can see this classic 1920s craftsman bungalow during The BeltLine Team’s quarterly open house event Committed to Communities on May 7th, 2011 from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. (RSVP online here!).
Atlanta neighborhood clean-up this Saturday, April 30th, in Westview!
For our neighbors who live in Westview in southwest Atlanta, you might have met Ayana Gabriel. She’s extremely involved in the neighborhood and specifically with helping plan special events, such as the Westview Tour of Homes, the Summer Solstice Cookout, events with Kipp Strive, and more. Below is an email I got from her today about a clean-up coming up this Saturday in Westview that I wanted to share with you:
In case you missed it, May 7 is going to be a huge day for the neighborhood! In Westview, we will be partnering with Adair Park to host our first ever “Open House.” Think of it as a Tour of Homes for houses for sale. This is an opportunity for potential home owner’s to take a look at some of the great homes in our neighborhood. Beginning on May 6, West End will be holding their annual West Fest. This event includes an outdoor concert, market festival, and Tour of Homes.
See below for more information on the May 7 event, but that’s not why I’m writing now. Of course, just as your mother taught you, we should clean-up before we have visitors. So this Saturday, April 30, from 9 – 12 pm we will have a clean-up of a few streets in the neighborhood that will have homes open for viewing. We need neighbors ready to pick up light and heavy trash. We also need anyone with a pick-up truck who can drive around that day. We will meet in front of KIPP STRIVE located at 1444 Lucile Avenue at 9 am.
We will be targeting the Lucile corridor, Rogers Ave (1600 block), Altoona Place (400 block), Inman (400 block) and East Ontario (400 block).
Special Thanks to C.T. Martin’s office who has donated a dumpster for the day.
You can reach me directly at agabriel1908@yahoo.com if you have any questions or need more information. Otherwise, hope to see you Saturday!

BeltLine Best Buy: 409 Inman Street in Westview
This 3 bed, 2.5 brick home is super convenient to I-20 and walking distance to the future Enota Park, one of the Atlanta BeltLine’s projected parks. With a new renovation sporting granite counters, hardwood floors, energy saving upgrades, and a location in historic Westview (which pre-dates the renovation, of course), this home has a LOT to offer for only $99,000! However, one of my favorite perks to this house is the potential for up to $49,980 in home buyer subsidies available.
This home at 409 Inman Street will also be held open in conjunction with our Committed to Communities event on May 7, 2011.
This walking tour of homes for sale in Adair Park and Westview will include a neighborhood BBQ at 1052 Allene Avenue across from the Atlanta BeltLine in Adair Park and open houses from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. Full details on the Committed to Communities website here! And, after you’ve toured our homes, be sure to check out West Fest (the West End Festival) in Gordon White Park!! Events will be going on from Thursday through Sunday.
