Neighborhood LIFT: a new homebuyer event focused on affordable housing and downpayment assistance options
We just received word from our friends over at Wells Fargo about a new type of homebuyer education course they’re rolling out this year. On February 10-11, 2012 a number of nonprofit agencies will be joining the bank in discussing with people their potential for owning a home. Visitors to the Neighborhood LIFT event will meet individually with home finance professionals to explore their options and find out if they’re able and ready to buy a home. After that conversation, potential home buyers can actually apply for downpayment assistance from local non-profit groups. These grants are available in select neighborhoods and for a limited time, so you’ll want to make sure to attend!
Neighborhood LIFT is about more than just helping you with your downpayment. Wells Fargo and the real estate agents involved want to see homeowners succeed, which is why they have a video homebuyer education center with training on managing a home and the continued financial responsibility that comes with it. And when you’re ready to start looking at homes, Neighborhood LIFT will offer an Affordable Home Tour viewing center and neighborhood home tour buses so you can get a feel for the neighborhoods in person.
